Description

Amazon - Large - Adult - Female - Bird - Ginger
Description
Ginger is a 16-17 year old Yellow Naped Amazon. She is a teenager for an Amazon & she acts like it. Ginger came to the haven with her cagemate, Fred. Fred has since been placed, which is good for Ginger because he wouldn't allow anyone to get close to her. Ginger has had two different ownersduring her life- the last owner for 11-12 years. Job responsibilities have changed causing them to be placed at the Haven. Ginger is handleable. She is quite a clown and loves to hang upside down. She is a real cutie... very animated and comical. She talks all the time... both understandible vocabulary or just mumbling to be making noise... she just enjoys hearing herself talk. . She definately has the teenager "energy". Ginger is very gentle and loving to those she likes, but does pick her favorites. She has a plucking issue- although she isn't totally bare. She for some reason enjoys keeping the feathers on her belly as "fuzz" and not complete feathers. This definately doesn't take away from her spirit. Ginger will do well in a home where there are other birds because she seems to "play off of" the flock. She does however need plenty of attention- so only needs to be a member of a home where there are one or possibly two other birds.... that's all. VOCABULARY wowowowow, wolf whistle, hello, rooster call, go away-go away, Laurie and she makes a fan sound. Things you should know about this parrot: Amazons average 20-30 yrs., more than 50 yrs. possible If you are interested in Ginger, and would like to consider adopting her, please read our website to see our adoption requirements and then if you feel you qualify please fill out an application online. When we are ready to go further with a specific adoption we will contact you to set up a phone consultation. 9. Once the phone consultation is complete- and you are still eligible for the adoption we will schedule a time for the in-home visit. 10. After the in-home visit is complete, you might be asked to set an appointment to visit the Haven and meet the bird you are hoping to adopt.
