This is a prototype totally functional totally electric 12 volt negative ground car cooler or as they are more commonly referred to, as a swamp cooler or window cooler. Car coolers were invented in the 1920's and were sold through the early 1960's before air conditioning in cars became affordable. Of course, This car cooler could be used in your car if you A/C needs repair or if you want to same on the cost of gasoline required to run the A/C compressor

The diameter is 10 inches - the overall length is 15 inches. The square duct is 4 by 8 by 4 inches and it goes in the right front door with the window lower and used as partial support. It comes with the universal mounting hardware and will require some modification to mount correctly just like the units of old due to the shapes of the various doors used on cars and trucks of over the last 65 years.

It comes with a three speed panel mounted switch that controls the high powered blower fan (rated by the manufacturer's at 400 CFM and 10 amps on the high speed (about 7 and 4 amps on medium and low speeds)). Another unique feature is a water pump that is completely seperate from the fan and can be turned on or off with its own switch on the panel. There is a 5 foot cord with an automotive plug to allow the car cooler to be mounted in a a rear window and still reach the dash receptacle. Water is easily added and has an excess water overflow indicator and drain.

The use of the powerful electric fan eliminates you or someone from having to pull those ropes to have just a breath of cool air while the car is not moving. Maybe you have pets and need to keep them comfortable. Or you have a tent or travel trailer. You could easily use this in a pet container or to cool that tent or travel trailer using a spare battery or the optional power supply. It can be used in a house to serve the functions of a spot cooler or humidifier when coupled with the optional power supply.

What I have here is a BRAND NEW unit that is functional and then some as it is totally electric. It is all metal unlike another reproductions that are mostly plastic. This means it is ready to mount on your car or truck right out of the box. This is based on units that where functional and includes the heavy internal parts so it is somewhat heavier but it is still easy to install.. And the summer heat and car shows nearly here, this is a perfect time to have a "cool" car. There is no fuss and muss dealing with a dented rusted unit that requires hours of restoration before you can enjoy it and since it is electrically operated, it works if you setting still or doing 55 down the highway. The instructions that you will receive with this car cooler will nearly eliminate the wasps, bees and butterflies that would love to invite themselves into your car for a closer look at you and your car's interior.

And those sudden downpours that always occur when you step away from the car to get that quick soft drink are less of a problem in part due to the totally electric fan that provides a positive pressure to the interior of the car even with the engine off for short periods of time.

Let me repeat as if I have not said it already (smile), this is a TOTALLY FUNCTIONAL electrically powered and includes an universal mounting kit.

An update: It is also available in 6 and 24 volt versions - there may or may not be a price difference. I have inquired but have not found a good 6 volt motor that would support the 400 CFM fan. I will continue my search but I do have a limited stock of NOS 6 volt motors that would provide an estimated 300 CFM and would draw about 15 amps on 6 volts so you would need to have a seperate dash receptacle wired and fused at 20 amps. 24 volts is not a problem and the ampage is about half of that stated above and is no extra charge.

While there is no warrenty on this car cooler since it is a prototype and it is NEW - I will offer repairs for 1 year from date of purchase for $50.00 - You pay the shipping to and from me - I will repair the faulty part or parts and will repaint to original color - This does not include dent removal or if you drop the the cooler. Proof of purchase must be included with the unit and a description of the problem so that a repair can be made and $50.00 plus shipping return and insurance (around $25.00 to $30.00 at today prices.
